The Model 3 strikes once again. More and more pictures have been coming in every week with of this not so mysterious vehicle anymore. Every day, new sightings of Tesla Model 3’s are always reported and each image taken has something else to show about the vehicle. From the glass to the interior to any part of the car, today we have the rims.
The rims on the tires are one of the unique features that one could find on a Tesla. Tesla makes all of the parts to the vehicle in-house with special rims for every car. The Model S and Model X have very similar rims being very similar cars with just size differences. But the Model 3 is a whole new story. At the only event so far for the Model 3, on March 31st, 2016, we saw a glimpse of some of the very special rims that are being made exclusively for this vehicle.
These 3 rims have been produced specifically for this vehicle. Based on speculation, all of these rims will be at a much higher price, therefore, there is a reason to believe that one more option will be available as a standard with no extra cost. Most of the Model 3’s that are spotted today do not have either of these rims because of an idea going around called the “ugly rims” where Tesla is deliberately producing most of the release candidate vehicles with rims that do not look as fancy to save on costs which all makes sense. The first two rims of the three are silver representing a design that is slightly more commonly available in vehicles but unique at the same time. The third rim has a very different story. The black design isn’t actually a rim but a wheel cap that fits over the rims to change the look of the vehicle. With almost no sightings of this type, most have believed that this is discontinued even though there is strong support for the design. But we have spotted one of them.
A brand new blue Model 3 was spotted earlier this week with the special black wheels on it. First, the car looks amazing with it. The use of the black wheel cap over the rim creates a whole new look to the vehicle as the black perfectly blends in with the blue. Second, we see that the design has stayed the same after all this time with creates speculation as to why more of these have not been spotted. The only thing that can be seen as different is a white line creating a circular border around the wheel cap that was not spotted before. As always, nothing is completely decided until the final event for the Model 3 that will be held in mid-July of 2017. But until then, this is all that we know.
